Schmoov!Based in Nottingham, UK, Schmoov! are Andre Bonsor and John Buckby. They were brought together in 1999 by a shared love of disco, techno, house and by a mutual delight of the sublime and ridiculous. A few years on, they have over 20 singles, an album, and a pioneering live act to their name.

Schmoov!'s debut album ‘While You Wait', was released on DiY Discs in 2001. It made waves everywhere from San Francisco to Europe, to Australia and back. It was album of the month in Loaded (5/5), iDJ (5/5), and Wax (9.5/10) - and album of the year in Penthouse (a teenage dream for the lads realized at last). Other corners of the dance press were also queuing up to throw praise on Schmoov, including Ministry (8/10), Mixmag (5/5) Muzik (4/5) Seven (5/5), and DJ magazine (4.5/5). What a pair of media tarts. Instantly they started poncing around wearing enormous belts and silly haircuts.

Schmoov! are among the few house acts who really do play as a live band as opposed to just pretending. Their live show has provided them with a special deep house passport to play gigs throughout the world. They were personally requested by Groove Armada to support two legs of their ‘Goodbye Countryside' LP tour, playing at sold-out major venues such as London's Shepherds Bush Empire and Brixton Academy. Schmoov! have also played live at numerous underground clubs and events as well, including Herbal and Cargo in London, Boiler Rooms in Birmingham and Futuresonic in Manchester. They have played on the main stage at the Big Chill festival on Saturday afternoon, and have been regularly booked to play in Poland, Prague, Singapore, Holland, Norway, France, Germany.

Schmoov! have also unleashed a steady stream of singles since their inception in 1999. The first single was the incredibly funky ‘Destination' (DiY Diversions), followed by the ‘Chicken Grease' EP on Paper Recordings, (Jockey Slut's single Of The Month in June 2001); and then ‘Monkey Nut' (Yoga Recs); the ‘Wrong Turning EP' (DiY); and more, up to the latest release on Winding Road Records ‘Taking Me Over' which is due out in January 2006 and has been praised already by, er...Jesus himself!!!

As for remixes, the Schmoov remix of A Million Sons' ‘Misti Blu' was ranked by no less than David Mancuso as #1 in his ‘Loft' chart at the time. The remix was subsequently released on Pete Tong's London records, featuring the vocals of Chaka Khan and her sister Taka Boom.

Currently Andre and John are hard at work thinking about their second album, which is penned in for release in 2006 on Winding Road Records. Thinking eh? We shall see what comes of that now, won't we??
