THE sun is shining, the music starts and it goes mental on the terrace. But this isn't Ibiza - it's a fully rigged party boat setting sail from Castlefield.
According to Stylus' boat party organiser Les Croasdaile, intimacy is a huge part of the underground house scene - and you don't get more intimate than a boat with 60 people.

'It's all about the music, not about d'cor. That's what we pride ourselves on,' he says about the water-bound event, which starts out at Castlefield Locks on Friday, August 13.
Hooking up with Madhatters and James Holroyd (Back To Basics/Bugged Out!), the party is the result of Stylus' desire to remain fresh and original while their usual Music Box home is closed for renovation in August.
Croasdaile, who runs the night with co-promoter Al Mackin, believes the relationship between location and music is key to making this underground event special: 'The secret after party venue is going back to the acid house style," he says. "The music slides from house to house breaks.'
Stylus residents Croasdaile and Carey started out as Liquid DJ's on All FM and set up the first Stylus event in October 2003 aiming to establish 'a distinct, unique, and experimental vibe which prioritises the music over the accessories.'
More details will be posted on the Stylus website one week before the event. It's a private party so you will need to register in order to get on the guest list.
The Boat Party takes place on Friday, August 13 at Castlefield Locks, 7pm till 11pm. The Boat After Party takes place straight afterwards until 4am at a secret location.
